I literally just found 6 dollars in a gas station microwave. What does this mean?!?
Hey guys!
We just finished out day 2 here at Alive Festival in Mineral City, OH. it’s been just a crazy past 2 days, and we still have 2 days to go here! Sorry I haven’t really been able to post much. I’m normally a proud AT&T user, but this week, AT&T is really disappointing. There’s no service within 10 miles of the festival. This has resulted in no credit cards, calls home, or tumblr posts.
But nay, for I have found a land far away with service and wifi for all. A place where good food and drink flow like milk and honey. A place where loved ones meet to cherish sweet memories of fellowship and fun. I have found… Denny’s.
Seriously though…we’ve had some crazy Denny’s experiences! Last night at about 2am, we saw a man propose to his girlfriend! Right there! In Denny’s at 2am! Everyone cheered them on and she started crying. We’re sitting in the same booth tonight…just waiting for something to happen. And…it did. I ate bacon ice cream, and it was phenomenal. Now I’m the one crying.
In all seriousness, we’ve met some really incredible people here at Alive! Can’t wait to meet more. If you’re reading this and you’re here, come see us! I absolutely love to hear what God is doing through so many people’s lives.
Also, I do have to mention that some awesome guys came by the table and got some shirts. They were really humble and had great hearts. We talked a lot about God and how He is working through us. It was very encouraging how they were genuinely interested in Olive Tree and wanted to know more and more about it. They go by the name of Ivoryline (Tooth and Nail Records.). Check em out!
Well, the iPad is running out of battery. I’ll update more later! Goodnight!
We found Arkansas people!!
Hello Alive Festival!
I’m so confused.
I love coffee, ice cream, and baseball.
That being said, it was so appropriate that we’ve gotten to spend the past 2 nights with my good friends, Adam and Meredith Argo. They live in Louisville, KY, and we stayed not even 10 minutes away from the Louisville Slugger Museum. (If you’ve never been and you get the chance to…do it…even if you don’t like baseball.) We also walked to this awesome little ice cream shop where I experienced my first “Bluth” Frozen Banana. (Any Arrested Development fans?)
But the best part about it all? (besides the company of the Argo’s) was the Argo Sons Coffee. (http://argosonscoffee.com) Adam made us coffee using beans that he and his partner roasted themselves. Then, he brewed them with all sorts of crazy machines that I’d never heard of. Something about a Japanese thingy, some weird pot with a long spout, and something called a chem-x? I have no idea. All I know is that it was all delicious. Adam also used to be an accountant, so he helped out Olive Tree a lot and taught me a lot of things about doing books.
It was such a great break. I feel rejuvenated and ready to go at Alive Festival tomorrow! Unfortunately there is no cell phone service or wifi at the festival grounds, so I’m writing this post in a McDonalds right now. I’ll keep this updated as much as possible…but until then, please continue to pray for Michael and I that we will be used by God and that He and He alone gets all the glory. Thanks for following along!
Hey guys!
Sorry, it’s been a couple days since I’ve written anything. We finished out Ichthus on Saturday, and spent all day yesterday (Sunday) relaxing and trying to wind down. Here we are on Monday hanging out in Louisville, KY, with my good friends, Adam and Meredith Argo. I’ll get to them in the next post, but for now I’ll talk about the last day of Ichthus.
It was such an encouraging week all together. We were able to make so many new friends and reconnect with some great old friends. We got to pray with a lot of passionate people who are seeking out Holy Spirit and what He can do through their talents and abilities. Can you imagine a generation full of people who are using what they’re passionate about for the Kingdom? Can you imagine the same Holy Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead, rose Lazarus from the dead, parted the Red Sea, turned water into wine, etc., working through us? If He can do all of that, what can He do through what you’re passionate about and through your spiritual gifts?
Hopefully, this isn’t something that hibernates in our imaginations, but rather manifests itself into heartfelt ministry. I look forward to keeping in touch with these people from Ichthus to find out.
It’s 1am, and Ichthus Day 2 just ended. I’m sitting here on the floor of an amazing host home that has let us stay with them, and I’m just blown away by the way God has blessed this tour so far. He’s taking care of our stomachs, our sleep, our finances, and our safety.
The weather here has been very ominous. Earlier today, giant black clouds circled the festival and they made everyone rush to their vehicles to take shelter. Thankfully, no one was hurt or anything. In fact, the storms never even fell…they just passed right over.
This is where it got really interesting. So many people reacted in so many different ways. Some were running scared. Some were crying. Some were laughing and joking. Some were praying and singing. Some were even speaking in tongues and openly shouting at the sky to clear up. As for me, I watched Kung Fu Panda in the van with some friends I’ve made here. (Great movie)
So, who’s right? Who’s wrong? I don’t think there’s really a black and white answer to what method is right or wrong - laughter, panic, calm, fear. I think it has much more to do with who gets the glory. I’ll let my opinion on things stop here for tonight…
If you are giving yourself any credit whatsoever to the storm passing over - you’re wrong. The Lord and the Lord alone kept us safe today, and I’m very thankful!
In other news, we got to talk with more amazing people today. There are far too many to write about here, and I have far too little time. I will say this though… The Lord on high is mighty. We are all very blessed.
There’s a storm-a-comin. Please pray for us! We’re in a big open field taking shelter in the OTC van.
